P&P 2010 Kids Fest Poetry Contest Winners
Young writers from throughout Northeastern PA are invited to submit a poem for Scranton’s Pages & Places Book Festival Poetry Contest. Any student in grades 3-11 residing in Northeastern Pennsylvania, whether in public, private, charter or home school is eligible to participate.
The contest is being organized by the Pages & Places Book Festival in collaboration with the Lackawanna County Library System, the Mulberry Poets & Writers Association and the Northeast Educational Intermediate Unit.
Process: Submissions are due August 15, 2011 and will be judged over the summer by members of the Mulberry Poets & Writers Association. The winning poems will be announced in September, read by the writers at an awards ceremony at the Pages & Places Book Festival on October 1, 2011 and published on www.pagesandplaces.org. Prizes will be awarded to each division winner with a $20 gift certificate from Outrageous and Pages & Places @ Anthology in Scranton.
Guidelines: Submit one poem on a theme of your choice. All submissions must be the original work of the writer entering. One winner will be awarded in each of the following divisions,
along with two honorable mentions.
- Division 1: Grades 3-4
- Division 2: Grades 5-6
- Division 3: Grades 7-8
- Division 4: Grades 9-11
Submissions: Must be received by or postmarked August 15, 2011. Entry forms and information can be found online at www.pagesandplaces.org.
