The Pages & Places Book Festival is excited to be hosting its first annual poetry contest!
Submissions are welcome from any student grades 3-11 residing in Northeastern Pennsylvania, whether in public, private, charter, or home school. Prizes will be awarded to the winners in each of the four age divisions. The awards ceremony will be held during the festival on October 2, 2010 as part of the Kids Fest/Book Expo and the winning poems will be published on the Pages & Places website.Prizes will be awarded to each division winner with a $20 gift certificate from Outrageous/Anthology New and Used Books.
The theme is open, and the contest is designed to allow young poets in Northeastern Pennsylvania an opportunity for creativity–to share, express and engage. As Robert Frost said, “Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words”.
If you are a student interested in submitting a poem, an educator interested in integrating the contest into your class or a parent looking for creative writing opportunities for your child, we encourage you to participate!
